Why Guitar Your Way Was Created

Guitar Your Way was created to solve a problem Chayton saw again and again in traditional music education: students feeling boxed into rigid systems that didn’t reflect how they actually learn or what they truly want to play. Too often, lessons followed a one-size-fits-all approach, leaving students either overwhelmed, bored, or unsure how everything connected. Chayton built Guitar Your Way around a simple but powerful idea — that every guitarist deserves a learning path tailored to their goals, pace, and interests. Whether a student is focused on songs, theory, improvisation, technique, or long-term musicianship, the process should feel clear, flexible, and purposeful. The mission of Guitar Your Way is to provide structured guidance without restriction, combining thoughtful curriculum design with real support. Through personalized lessons and ongoing video-based resources, students are given the tools they need to stay motivated, practice with confidence, and make consistent progress — on their own terms. At its core, Guitar Your Way is about helping students build real musical understanding while enjoying the journey. No pressure, no cookie-cutter paths — just intentional learning, steady growth, and a system designed around the individual guitarist.

Meet the instructor!

Chayton picked up the guitar at six years old and was performing onstage by the age of twelve. Since then, he has built a dynamic career as both a performer and educator. He has shared the stage with artists such as Mark Isaiah (Season 10 of The Voice), Antonique Smith (Grammy-nominated singer and actress), and Jordan Mailata of the Philadelphia Eagles (The Masked Singer, Season 7). His versatility and musicality have made him a trusted guitarist for live shows, studio sessions, and collaborative projects across multiple genres.

In addition to performing, Chayton has served as a Music Director in both full-time and contract roles, bringing leadership, creativity, and strong musical vision to every project he takes on.

With over 15 years of teaching experience, Chayton brings energy, clarity, and enthusiasm to every lesson. He believes learning guitar should be both structured and enjoyable, and he designs personalized curriculums that match each student’s goals, interests, and learning style. From Rock and Jazz to Blues, Classical, and beyond, he teaches it all — always in a way that feels engaging and achievable.

Chayton’s lessons put the student first. His approach empowers students to grow confidently, develop real musicianship, and enjoy the process every step of the way. With a strong emphasis on support and communication, he ensures every student feels guided, motivated, and in control of their learning journey.
