Neck-Wide Chord Mastery

About

Welcome to this course on building chords and understanding harmony on the guitar. The goal of this course is to help you move beyond memorizing chord shapes and start understanding how chords are actually built. Instead of relying on patterns alone, you’ll learn how to identify intervals, spell chords, and find usable voicings anywhere on the fretboard. The course is designed to be taken slowly. Each lesson builds on the previous one and revisits the same ideas in different positions so you can clearly see how everything connects. You’ll spend time working with the major scale, learning how thirds, fifths, and sevenths define chord quality, and how basic triads expand into seventh chords, extensions, suspensions, and inversions. Rather than overwhelming you with theory, the focus is on practical application. You’ll be encouraged to pause, quiz yourself, and physically find notes on the guitar before moving on. Repetition is intentional and necessary for long-term understanding. This course is ideal for guitar players who feel stuck memorizing shapes, want a stronger grasp of chord symbols, or are ready to move into a more intermediate understanding of harmony. A basic knowledge of open chords and the major scale will be helpful, but you don’t need advanced theory to get started. Take your time, revisit lessons as needed, and trust the process. If you move slowly and apply each concept on the guitar, you’ll gain more freedom, confidence, and creativity in your playing.
